AROUND EPH
From Joe Flading City of Cincinnati Dept. of Transportation & Engineering We are planning a complete rehabilitation of 3 of the 4 streets that you requested:
- Considine Avenue from Glenway Avenue to Lehman Road
- Purcell Avenue from Glenway Avenue to the North Terminus
- West 8th Street from Grand Avenue to Elberon Avenue
Rehabilitation includes curb repairs along with paving. In addition to these streets, we plan to rehabilitate the following streets in East Price Hill:
- Brevier Avenue from Considine Avenue to Elberon Avenue
- Dorothy Lane from Atson Lane to the South Terminus
- Hawthorne Avenue from Bassett Road to Phillips Avenue
- LaClede Avenue from Carson Avenue to Ross Avenue
- Mansion Avenue from Glenway Avenue to the South Terminus
- Provincial Court from Quebec Road to the South Terminus
- St. Lawrence Avenue from Warsaw Avenue to Rosemont Avenue
- Wells Street from Glenway Avenue to Sedler Street
Additionally, the 4th street in your CPR, Carson Avenue, will be included in our 2009 Spot Infrastructure Repair project. This project involves having the City's Traffic & Road Operations crews (formerly Highway Maintenance) perform curb repairs on Carson Avenue from Warsaw Avenue to Glenway Avenue.
Neighborhood Business District Support Fund
We hope to have $9,000 available for business district projects in calendar 2009. Tom Croft, our NBD program manager, will put together our proposed budget and submit it by the end of April. You are encouraged to submit project ideas to Tom at 556-4028 (work), 244-2882 (home), or mailto:croftplace@cinci.rr.com.
We need the following questions answered for each proposed project:
- What is to be accomplished, or the problem/need?
- How will it get done? Who will lead? Will volunteers be needed? Contracts?
- What will be the results, and how will they be measured?
- What is the itemized budget?
Based on what we did in 2008, preliminary project ideas include:
- Plantings and maintenance of the Warsaw Avenue gateways and 20-25 large pots. Total cost may be $7,500, which includes plants and planting materials, and watering. Price Hill Garden Club does the installation.
- Holiday on the Hill. $900 toward printing, advertising and other expenses. We budgeted $1,000 in 2008 and $770 was spent.
- Design or other work for a small gateway feature at St. Lawrence Corner. $500?
- CNBDU annual dues of $100.
Finally, if you know of contractors who may be interested in bidding on business district gateway and planter maintenance (including watering), ask them to contact Tom Croft.
Besides our newsletter, we should further publicize our interest in bids for gateway/planter maintenance by notice in the Price Hill Press. I can submit the following to them.
East Price Hill Improvement Association will be seeking bids for seasonal maintenance of gateway planting beds and about 20 large planting pots along the Warsaw Avenue business district. An important part of this work is watering. For further information, please contact Tom Croft, EPHIA's Neighborhood Business District program manager, at 556-4028.
Price Hill Town Hall Meeting 6:30 pm Wednesday, Feb. 18 Elder Schaeper Center
We want to hear from you! On February 18th we will gather as a community at Elder High School to talk about issues and topics that residents have identified as being important to the growth of Price Hill. Our hope is to begin 2009 with an increased number of committed residents ready to take part in the revitalization of our neighborhood. Please go to http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=YEyn4fyVKSqwQMn6qjiahQ_3d_3d for a brief questionnaire that will help us determine what topics to cover in our community-wide meeting. Feel free to answer only the topics that are of concern to you. Your newly elected representatives, such as Congressman Steve Driehaus, will be on board at the meeting to answer your questions and spark conversation.
