MEET PATTI HOGAN
Patti Hogan is EPHIA's recording secretary ... and much more. It has been said that "if something good is happening in Price Hill, Patti isn't far away." Patti is a moving force in several programs that help Price Hill. The CPOP program, the Safety CAT Program, Safety Walks, Court Watch, Make A Difference Day, Price Hill banners and the Great American Clean-UP are just a few of the projects benefitting from Patti's no-nonsense style.
Patti is a life-long resident of Price Hill and one of five children. One of her sisters is her twin (which might explain how she seems to be everywhere at once). Patti is the doting owner of three dogs and two cats which keep her company when she's not involved in community projects or working her fulltime job as a systems analyst/programmer. To relax Patti loves to work in her garden or do about anything outside.
Patti says she loves Price Hill's green spaces, views and proximity to downtown and major highways. But it is really the people and history of Price Hill that keep her involved. She loves the diversity, multi-generational families and history. She is very proud of the way that people are coming together to share their struggles solve problems and celebrate their successes. Her goals for Price Hill are "to make her clean, safe and beautiful, and to . advertise her many wonderful assets." When asked to sum up her feelings about Price Hill, she says simply "There is no better place to live."
The East Price Hill Improvement Association's next general meeting will be held on March 20, 2006 at 7:30pm at the Elberon United Methodist Church at the corner of Phillips and Elberon. The Board of Directors will meet at 6:30pm prior to the general meeting.
SAFETY WALKS
Did you know that every other Thursday evening there is a Safety Walk somewhere in Price Hill? These walks create a presence of law-abiding residents in troubled areas. They also serve to pick up litter and help clean up those areas. Walkers also identify "quality of life" issues and make sure they are reported to the proper authorities. The next walk will be held in the area around Resurrection Church at 6:30pm on March 23. If you are interested meet in the Resurrection parking lot. If you have questions call Patti Hogan at 251-8538.
Volunteer for Court Watch!
The Price Hill Court Watch team is looking for volunteers who can spend a few morning hours attending court from time to time. Rides are often available. This is a perfect opportunity for seniors and retirees to make a major contribution to the community. For more information call Ken Rothman at 471-1912.
Join Your Neighbors at The Great American Clean-Up, Saturday, April 22!
This year's Great American Clean-Up is scheduled for April 22nd from 9am to 1 pm. It will be followed by a free community picnic at Seton High School. The Clean-Up is being sponsored jointly by EPHIA, Price Hill Civic, Price Hill Will, Santa Maria, Price Hill Merchants & Professional Association and the Covedale Garden District Group.
EPHIA members can register at the Price Hill United Methodist Church parking lot (comer of Elberon and Phillips), Santa Maria (comer of Warsaw and Purcell) or St. Lawrence Church (3680 Warsaw Avenue). Gloves, trash bags, pick-up sticks and bottled water will be provided. Suggestions will be made on where clean-up is most needed and teams will be dispatched to those areas. It isn't necessary to work the entire time; any time that you have available will help. Residents who cannot directly participate are encouraged to clean up areas around their homes.
There will be six collection sites in East and West Price Hill where residents can dispose of all kinds of trash and debris. In East Price Hill, items (except junked cars) can be taken to the parking lot of the Elberon United Methodist Church. This includes tires and appliances (please note this is the only site to accept such items). The other East Price Hill collection sites are Santa Maria (Warsaw and Purcell) and St. Lawrence Church (3680 Warsaw). Please remember that the Elberon church site is the only location which will accept tires or appliances.
If you have questions contact EPHIA's coordinator Patti Hogan at 251-8538 or at pm_hogan@fuse.net.
