From the President

Road Work Announcement

I spoke today with a city traffic engineer, Mr. Don Stiens, who informs me that East Price Hill will have some street, curb and sidewalk replacement work performed this spring/summer by the city's Traffic and Road Operating Division (T.R.O.D). This work is part of a $725,000 budget for this division. I made this contact due to the fact that work had begun on Purcell Av. and EPHIA had received no notification of any work to be performed. This project is great news for the neighborhood as the Purcell Av. curbs were in fact one of our 2007/2008 Community Priority Request (CPR). So this work is in addition to the other $127,000 dedicated towards some of our other CPR's as announced at the January 2007 meeting. I will attempt to develop a good relationship with Mr. Stiens and hopefully get work added to the T.R.O.D. before they remove their equipment and manpower, as Bassett St. is also in desperate need of curb repair as noted by one of our CPR's. Following is a detail of the scheduled work although they do not have a timeline for completion. Please call the EPHIA number if you have any questions. Again I restate that I do not have a document to factually detail the work but what is listed below is as best as I understood.
Dan Boller

Purcell Av. from Murdock to Bassett St. and
Purcell Av. - from West 8th St. to Price Av. = 100% curb replacement (I believe this includes 100% curb cut replacement also) and some sidewalk repair (I believe this is limited to the handicap ramp blocks at intersections)
Purcell Av from Bassett St. to W. 8th St = 25% curb replacement and some sidewalks
Carson Av. - from Mayfield to Wessels Av. = Asphalt grinding and pavement
Wessels Av. - from Glenway Av. to Wessels Ln. = Asphalt grinding and pavement
Wessels Ln. from Wessels Av. to Carson Av. = Asphalt grinding and pavement
