Summer in East Price Hill

EPHIA's Annual Picnic: Thank you to everyone who came out to Horses on the Hill on July 20th for EPHIA’s Annual Picnic! It was a wonderful afternoon filled with good food, fun, and plenty of time to connect with neighbors and friends. 

We’re especially grateful to BLOC for opening their space to the community, and to all of the volunteers who gave their time, energy, and resources to make the picnic possible. A special thank you to Hook Fish & Chicken for graciously providing the food and to The Lil' Goodie Shoppe for keeping everyone cool with delicious ice cream! Big thanks to Aunt Linda, Joe P., and all of their friends that helped setup and serve. 

Events like this are made possible by the support of our members. Thank you for helping EPHIA bring our community together - we can’t wait to see you all again next year!

Oldenview Clean-Up: Sometimes, you just have to step up and take care of it! EPHIA recently cut back overgrowth and treated weeds in an unclaimed area of Oldenview between city-owned parcels - a piece of “no man’s land” that residents and visitors now get to fully enjoy.

Our Community Council President shared some photos of the cleanup, and we’re proud to see EPHIA helping keep our neighborhood looking its best!

And while you’re in the area, don’t forget to visit Prima Vista! After recently experiencing a fire, they’re back open and more than ready for your visit!

Library Pizza Party: Your membership dues help make a lot of amazing things happen in our community. This month, EPHIA sponsored the Price Hill Branch of the Cincinnati Public Library's Summer Reading Program's Pizza Party for the brightest kids in Cincinnati! 

When you support EPHIA, you're helping us to invest directly back into Price Hill.

Carson Avenue One-Way Proposal: St. Lawrence Parish has proposed converting Carson Avenue between Warsaw Avenue and Laclede Avenue to a one-way street as part of upcoming campus improvements. The City has completed an initial traffic engineering review and determined the proposal is feasible, and the next step is gathering feedback from the community.

Representatives from the City of Cincinnati's Department of Transportation & Engineering (DOTE) and St. Lawrence Parish will join EPHIA's September General Meeting to share more information, answer questions, and hear from residents before the proposal moves forward in the City's approval process. This will be on the agenda at the next board meeting. If you have any concerns reach out to DOTE or email qol@ephia.org .

Glenway Park Renovations.  Work continues on the renovation of Glenway Park in East Price Hill, and the community will have an opportunity to hear an update and help shape what comes next. There was an engamenet session August 13th but it wasn't well attended due to the storms and we could have been better about letting you guys know about it. 

Cincinnati Parks will host another Glenway Park Renovation Community Engagement Session. . The meeting will include an update on the overall project and timeline, as well as an opportunity for community members to provide feedback on the new playground design and proposed location.

Your input matters as this project moves forward! Many of our residents have already submitted feedback that has been received. (Thanks DJ, Greg, Stacy, and Jonah!!)

Olden Tot-Lot at Woodlawn& Warsaw.  Recent events have again raised concerns about whether the park is a safe and welcoming place for children. Discussions are underway about the future of the tot lot after more than 20 years of unsuccessful efforts involving policing initiatives, community engagement, and public investment.

With Glenway Park opening and ongoing concerns about criminal and disruptive activity at Woodlawn, community stewards have evaluated whether the current use of the park continues to serve the neighborhood's needs. The answer is: it does not. These concerns were highlighted during the 2022 CBR process, when many local parents and children reported they did not allow their children to play there. The observations, shootings, public defecation, drug use, drinking, sex work, open air hoteling, and other biohazards have continued. 

EPHIA's Quality of Life Committee, Housing and Economic Development Committee, Price Hill Safety Community Action Team, and partners including Price Hill Will, the Cincinnati Police Department, the City Manager's Office, and the Recreation Commission are exploring options for the site's future and advocating for the best long-term outcome for the neighborhood.

Please share your thoughts and experiences with us at qol@ephia.org. This will be voted on in September as a part of the Community Budget Request process..

Community Budget Request The September 21, 2026 EPHIA meeting will be the final discuss and vote for our Community Budget Request to meet the City’s submission deadline. 

The Board and committees are in constant communications with most City departments and have projects ready to pitch.  If you have an idea you’d like to make sure gets considered questions about the process, email qol@ephia.org.

Price Hill Will

If you missed the Night on the Plaza celebration in July, you missed a great evening in East Price Hill! Price Hill Will recently celebrated the completion of the newest phase of the Warsaw Avenue Creative Campus with a ribbon cutting at 3104–3106 Warsaw Avenue, and our trustee and president were there to help celebrate and offer remarks.

The evening brought neighbors, artists, local businesses, families, and community partners together to experience the Creative Campus and celebrate what’s possible when investment is rooted in community. The newest phase adds two commercial spaces and nine residential apartments to the Warsaw Avenue corridor, building on PHW’s vision for a vibrant hub of arts, small businesses, housing, and community connection.

There’s plenty more happening at the Creative Campus, too! Price Hill Will has spaces available for new neighbors and businesses. If you know someone who might be a good fit, send them PHW’s way!

Rees E. Price Academy

We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Dean Bryson to the community as the new interim principal of Rees E. Price Academy.

"I'm honored to serve the East Price Hill community as Rees E Price Academy's incoming interim principal! I come with thirteen years of experience in education, mostly in the classroom, and I am excited for the opportunity to support the development of our students from the foundation in elementary school. Over the summer, I've had the opportunity to meet with staff, students, and our community, and I am deeply impressed with the heart of East Price Hill. Clap-In: Rees E. Price Academy will be hosting a Clap-In event on Wednesday, August 19th 2026 to welcome their students back to school. If you have just 30 minutes in the morning, come clap the kids in as they arrive to school and let them know how proud we are of them for making it to their first day of the new school year!

Duke Energy

A huge Thank You to our partners at Duke Energy for keeping us informed on ways that Duke Energy is committed to our community. They are launching Customer Protection Plus. You can learn more about Customer Protection Plus and Duke Energy's approach to data centers at duke-energy.com/datacenters.

Duke Energy restores power using a process designed to return service to the greatest number of customers as quickly and safely as possible while prioritizing facilities that support public health and safety. Currently, restoration times are being field generated. As damage assessments continue, Duke Energy will communicate updates – including estimated times of restoration – to customers through the company’s Outage Alerts and its Outage Map. Customers can also stay updated via the Duke Energy smartphone app .

A  congratulations is in order for Imago!

They are the winners of the June 2026 Seeds of Change Grant. This funding will support their Forest Project, a mission to transform an urban nature preserve through comprehensive habitat restoration led by an energized community.

You can also experience the magic of the woods for yourself at their Music in the Woods event on September 19 from 3 -10 PM. Make sure to check it out and support the great work Imago is doing in our community!

Have you tried brunch at Around the Table yet? Their seasonal menus are always bringing something new to the table, with Sunday brunch and open set days for Boards & Bites and Vine & Dine. Santa Maria

Looking for a way to support an organization that supports the health and well-being of our community? Santa Maria Community Services works with families at every stage of life, from children’s nutrition and family support to workforce development and building greater independence in our community.

Santa Maria regularly receives fresh produce and other food resources to share with local families, and they need our community’s help making sure these resources get into the hands of the people who need them. Because much of the produce is fresh and perishable, it’s important to spread the word and encourage our neighbors to take advantage of what’s available!

Check out the upcoming dates below and stop by to pick up some fresh produce while supporting the important work Santa Maria does right here in Price Hill.
