anonymous wrote:There is a serious issue with homeless and drug addicts in West Price Hill which has been a known problem for several election cycles with no improvement. If anything the issue has become drastically worse. The police indicated at a community meeting being intoxicated in public is simply a citation. Why are they not issuing citations then? If they citations (which is city revenue) is not paid, they go to jail. There would be consequences to being intoxicated in public. That is tax money for the city and a consequence for those behaving in a manner that is a safety risk. Some elected official signed off on these "treatment" centers and "halfway houses" but did not provide resources for the "rehabilitation". That lack of follow through is what caused the zombie like behavior and petty theft which has escalated to robbery and murder. What plans do you all have to "rehabilitate" in a meaningful way? At the very least protect the citizens who live here. Where are the jobs for these people? Where are the consequences for panhandling and public intoxication? Where are the resources to support the dumping of marginalized populations on the homeowners and tax payers for all of Price Hill?
